INTERNATIONAL MAIL ART CALL

The international group AUMA (Urgent Action Mail Art) and the group "Tarragona Patrimoni de la Pau" (Tarragona, Legacy of Peace) has linked his strain again the military presence of the US Navy in Vieques, Puerto Rico and the exercises from the OTAN war ships in Tarragona, Spain.

The puertorican Island of Vieques has been used as practice and firing range for the troops of the US Navy during sixty years that have gone by, as a result, polluted land, high cancer rates and a denigration underdevelopment in all levels among the population.

Tarragona is a old and beautiful city in the Mediterranean Sea, officially named Legacy of the Humanity by the ONU. The Tarragona seaport, and by default, all the city, are militarized for the continuous US Navy and the OTAN warships presence, in spite of the vigorous protest and rejection from several citizenship groups.

We are making a urgent call to all artists, mail artists, visual poets, net-art workers and all those in solidarity with this cause, sending us as soon as possible, yours artworks, to report the worldwide public opinion and to demand the immediate stop the all military intervention on this places.

With all artworks received we will be an exhibition in the Internet, like in Vieques and Tarragona places in a soon date to determinate. We will also send copies from this art works to the authorities and governments implicated.
