Dear Mike

Thanks for your recent letter me A BRIEF HIST...

Here are some more of my works for you to do with as you wish. I you suggest in your letter I have produced a heap of postcards, mostly hand made originals, and all kinds of broadly graphic works and objetcs which I have sent through the post. However, on this occasion Y have chosen to concentrate on projects which are added to or completed by the recipient or which generally involve some kind of activity at the other end, rather than just a passive observation. I feel there is probably a difference between ART IN THE MAIL -in other words more or less anything sent by mail- and MAIL ART -where the act of sending the work makes the work, it couldn't exist without having been sent. Another important aspect seems to be the increarmgly corporate nature of mail art where numbers of participants are asked to build up a work through joint collaborations of various kinds. And now perhaps you can do something for me? I am collecting material for a publication titled "VIEWS". When I write to people I am asking them to follow these instructions. Go out of your front door and walk for 200 paces in any direction. Turn inmediately to your left and record what you see in any medium. Continue walking for 200 paces in any direction. Turn inmediately to your right and record what you see in any medium. Send your two views to me and when I have enough material I will print a book and send you a copy. I look forward to seeing your views...

All the best

Robin Crozier
